Social Work Dean Search

The University of Alabama invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Social Work.

Established in 1965, the UA School of Social Work ranks among the top accredited social work graduate programs in the United States. The next dean should be an innovative, future-oriented, and facilitative leader with a high scholarly profile who will lead the School on community-engaged research initiatives and social justice solutions for Alabama and beyond. Based on a shared vision for the School, the new dean will provide proactive leadership on academic programs, advancement and development, budget, faculty and staff management, planning, and research. The School seeks a high-integrity individual with a commitment to shared governance principles, including accountable leadership, collaborative decision-making, and effective, open and transparent communication. The School values community engagement skills and the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with students and alumni, the business community, state and federal government officials, and additional stakeholder groups to support the goals of the School and University.
