Where can students who have been displaced find short-term and long-term housing?
If your off-campus apartment was damaged during the storm and you have housing needs, please call Housing and Residential Communities at 205/348-7559 for assistance.

How do I get in touch with my student/child?
Try students’ phone numbers, check Facebook and email. Keep in mind that phone and Internet services are strained and please be patient. You may call UAPD at 205/348-5454 if you are a parent and your child is missing.

What’s the best way for parents to get info?
The University of Alabama website: www.ua.edu

Will you be sending regular messages to parents with updates?
Please refer to the University’s website, www.ua.edu, for the latest information.

Should parents come to Tuscaloosa?
Please stay away from community areas that have experienced damage. If you must travel in Tuscaloosa, please be extremely careful. Obey all commands of law enforcement.

Will exams take place next week?
The University will not conduct final exams next week as scheduled. Students will have the option of accepting their existing grades as of April 27, 2011, or they can take a final exam at a later date. For those students who request to take a final exam, faculty will have the option of scheduling the final exam on site when normal operations resume or via distance education means. No exams will be given on campus next week. If students choose to take final exams, they can work with their professors to take them using technology (i.e. email, e-learning, etc.). No student is required to take a final exam on campus.

This schedule change includes all enrolled students except those in the School of Law and School of Medicine. Their academic calendars vary and they should be in touch with their faculty and students for confirmation of their exam schedule.

How can students determine their grade as of April 27?
Faculty should communicate with their students via e-learning or their normal means as facilities are restored. Students should know that not all faculty will have communication capabilities immediately.

Will commencement take place May 7, 2011?
Commencement exercises scheduled for May 7, 2011, have been rescheduled for Aug. 6, 2011, when May and August graduates will be recognized.

How do students confirm their summer school schedule? Will there be an extension to the deadline to confirm?
There will be an extension to the confirmation deadline but the details have not been finalized. Students will get an email on Monday with more details.

When do students who live on-campus for the spring semester have to vacate dorms?
We are encouraging all campus residents who can safely return home to do so, and the residence halls will have express checkout. They will close for the semester as scheduled on May 7.

Will summer/interim schedules stay the same?
Interim, summer and fall classes will begin as scheduled.  All summer youth programs will begin as scheduled.

Is the deadline for football season ticket renewal still May 2?
The football season ticket renewal deadline for faculty and staff and TIDE PRIDE has been extended to Friday, May 6. A Tide-mail will go out today to those groups on the email list.

Is water safe to drink?
Yes.

What damage was done to campus?
No structural damage was done to campus.

What damage was done to off-campus student housing?
To find out info on damage to the Tuscaloosa area, refer to media outlets.

Is on-campus housing safe?
Yes.

Are all the buildings on campus safe?
Yes.

Where can students eat on campus?
Lakeside Dining is open today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Is there transportation for students who need to go the Birmingham airport?
Yes. Information about airport shuttles is available at 205/348-RIDE.
