The Rural Medical Scholars Program at the College of Community Health Sciences will honor the graduates of its 20th class, as well as alumni of the now two-decade-old program, on Sunday, May 1, at Hotel Capstone on The University of Alabama campus. A reception for program alumni will be at 3 p.m. and will be followed by the 20th Annual Rural Scholars Convocation, where the current classes of the Rural Medical Scholars and Rural Community Health Scholars will be recognized.
The University of Alabama chapter of Order of Omega recently announced award and scholarship recipients and initiated new officers at its annual Greek awards banquet in Tuscaloosa. Order of Omega is the national honorary for fraternity and sorority members.

President Stuart R. Bell announced the four pillars of The University of Alabama’s new strategic plan at a meeting with faculty and staff this afternoon.
Stephen Peter Rowe, a senior at The University of Alabama, recently received the 2016 Capstone Engineering Society Outstanding Senior Award.
Sarah McFann, a University of Alabama senior from Arlington, Tennessee, has received an elite Fannie and John Hertz Foundation Fellowship for 2016. McFann is the first UA student to be named a recipient of the award, which has been presented to fewer than 1,200 students in its 53 year history.
