Education and Support Group Offered by UA Women’s Resource Center

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center is sponsoring a 10-week series “Pathways to Healing” open to members of the University community to explore various topics on violence against women.

The group will meet on Wednesdays from noon-1 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch.

The schedule and topics for Pathways to Healing include:

  • Sept. 7 – Cultural Support of Violence against Women
  • Sept. 14 – Disclosing a Painful Truth
  • Sept. 21 – Exploring Self-Blame and Denial
  • Sept. 28 – The Effects of Abuse and Trauma
  • Oct. 5 – Dealing with Loss and Grief
  • Oct.19 – Living with Anger
  • Oct. 26 – Getting Trapped in Depression
  • Nov. 2 – Developing Coping Skills and Support
  • Nov. 9 – Building Trust in Relationships
  • Nov.16 – From Victim to Survivor

Meetings are open-ended and participants can attend any or all of the sessions.
