UA Equestrian Team Caps off Successful Season, Looks Toward Championship Competitions

The University of Alabama equestrian team recently wrapped up its 2014-2015 season with a show at Berry College, where it earned the reserve high point title out of 14 schools entered. The performance was one of numerous high point and reserve high point finishes throughout the season that contributed to their second place ranking in the region in total points for the year, a jump of two places over last year’s ranking.

Juried Exhibition of UA Art Students’ Work on Display

Work by Bachelor of Fine Arts students in The University of Alabama’s department of art and art history will be displayed March 6-April 3 at the UA Gallery in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in downtown Tuscaloosa.

UA’s Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Hosts Bone-Marrow Registration

The University of Alabama’s Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity is sponsoring a Be the Match on Campus bone-marrow registration drive from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the fraternity house, 202 University Blvd. on campus. The event is the fraternity’s second Hadley Drive, which began as a search for a bone-marrow donor match for Hadley Mercer, the infant daughter of UA alumnus and fraternity member Brad Mercer. A match was found for Hadley, but the drive will continue in her honor to help register more potential donors in the hopes of saving more lives.

UA Theatre Students to Perform Tributes to Tennessee Williams

University of Alabama theatre students will perform dramatic readings from the plays of Tennessee Williams, including performances from “Glass Menagerie” and “A Streetcar Named Desire,” on March 2 and 3 as part of a tribute to Williams and his friendship with Dr. Marian Gallaway, longtime professor of theatre at UA and director of UA’s department of theatre from 1947-1973.

UA Feminist Caucus, National Council of Negro Women to Host Celebration of Women and Diversity

The University of Alabama Feminist Caucus and the UA chapter of the National Council of Negro Women will host “Silhouette: From the Shadows to the Spotlight, “which will feature the stories and experiences of women of color and those who historically have been silenced, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in 38 Lloyd Hall on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
