UA Ranks Among Best in Enrollment of National Merit Scholars

In keeping with its strong record of attracting some of the nation’s most outstanding students, The University of Alabama ranks 12th among public universities in the enrollment of National Merit Scholars for 2007-2008 and 30th among all universities.

UA Ranked in Top 10 Percent by U.S. News

The University of Alabama is again ranked among the top 50 public universities in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings for 2008. UA is ranked 42nd among public national universities and 91st among all universities, both public and private.

UA Co-Leads Joint U.S.-Cuban Archaeological Expedition

Researchers in an ongoing U.S.-Cuban archaeological expedition, co-led by The University of Alabama, are attempting to learn more about the native people Christopher Columbus encountered on his first voyage to the New World.

Double-Major a UA Degree Candidate at 20

Two years ago this month, Christopher Culbert was walking across a stage at Vestavia Hills in Birmingham to pick up his high school diploma. Twenty-four months later, he’s poised to pick up another sheepskin, this one of the college variety, having completed requirements to earn his bachelor’s degree, while double-majoring in math and physics at The University of Alabama.

U.S News Ranks UA Law School 15th Among Public Law Schools, 36th Overall

The University of Alabama School of Law is ranked 15th among public law schools and 36th among all law schools in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2008 edition of its annual “Best Graduate Schools” publication. The ranking is the highest ever for the UA Law School, which has been ranked among the Top 50 law schools for nine consecutive years.

Four Students Named to USA Today’s All-USA College Academic Team
