UA Acquires Extensive Collection of American Historical Documents, Photos and Books
The University of Alabama Libraries is acquiring one of the most extensive collections of Americana and Southern history in private hands: the A. S. Williams III Collection of History and Culture of the South. For more than 40 years, Williams, a Eufaula native and UA alumnus, collected rare Americana, primarily books, manuscripts and photographs relating to the history of the United States.
UA Sets Record with 10 Students Named to USA Today’s All-USA College Academic Team
A record 10 University of Alabama students have been named to USA Today’s 2010 All-USA College Academic Team. Once again, UA led the nation with the most students on the team, and set a record for the most students any university has ever placed on the team in a single year. UA students Alan Blinder, Connor Johnson, Kendra Key, Dana Lewis, Joy Driver Aldridge, Richard Cockrum, Susan DeLeon, Amy Frees, Kalen Berry and Rebecca Long were named to the team.
UA Biology Professors Receive NSF Grant to Research Oil Spill
Two University of Alabama professors have received a National Science Foundation Rapid Response Research grant to research environmental clean-up solutions for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
