Seniors in UA’s Army ROTC to be Commissioned

The University of Alabama’s Senior Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, Crimson Tide Battalion, will hold a commissioning ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Ferguson Center Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.

UA’s Rural Medical Scholars Program Celebrates 20th Class

The Rural Medical Scholars Program at the College of Community Health Sciences will honor the graduates of its 20th class, as well as alumni of the now two-decade-old program, on Sunday, May 1, at Hotel Capstone on The University of Alabama campus. A reception for program alumni will be at 3 p.m. and will be followed by the 20th Annual Rural Scholars Convocation, where the current classes of the Rural Medical Scholars and Rural Community Health Scholars will be recognized.

The University of Alabama chapter of Order of Omega recently announced award and scholarship recipients and initiated new officers at its annual Greek awards banquet in Tuscaloosa. Order of Omega is the national honorary for fraternity and sorority members.

UA’s Documenting Justice Course to Screen Films at Bama Theatre

The University of Alabama Center for Ethics & Social Responsibility and the UA department of telecommunication & film will host the 10th Annual Documenting Justice film screening at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa. The screening is free and open to the public. The five short documentaries that will premiere were created by non-film majors who dedicated a year to learning how to document and analyze culture and social experience – and communicate about issues of justice and injustice in Alabama – through videography.
