Graduating Seniors Can Qualify for ‘Quick Admit’ to Grad Programs

To better equip undergraduate students for the evolving job market, The University of Alabama’s Graduate School launched the Graduate Quick Admit Program, an initiative that offers priority admission to graduating UA seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Beginning with the Summer 2020 Semester, select UA graduate programs are offering expedited graduate admissions for eligible May and August 2020 graduates. Depending on GPA, students may be automatically admitted to their desired graduate program.

“We know UA has some of the most talented undergraduates in the nation, and we want to open more doors for them. This might be a good time for our top students to think about a master’s degree to boost their employability,” said Dr. Susan Carvalho, dean of the Graduate School. “We are working to remove some of the barriers to that goal for these students who already have such successful track records at UA.”

Students applying to the same department are eligible for:

  • Automatic admission with a
    • 3.25+ GPA for the College of Engineering or Manderson Graduate School of Business
    • 3.3+ GPA for the College of Human Environmental Sciences or College of Communication and Information Sciences
  • Expedited review and decision with a
    • 3.0-3.24 GPA for Engineering or Business
    • 3.0-3.29 GPA for Human Environmental Sciences or Communication and Information Sciences
  • Choice between non-thesis and thesis options

If a student’s GPA is at least 3.0, they are exempt from an application fee and GRE or GMAT graduate school entry exam score, and could be exempt from a statement of purpose and letters of recommendation. See the Graduate School website for details.
