The Psychopathic CEO
Forbes – Dec. 9

“He is a charismatic leader who inspires people to follow him. A strategic thinker who can master the details. A tireless worker with incredible focus and problem-solving skills. He is well-liked by his employees but is also able to make and execute unpopular decisions. Above all, he is an exceptional communicator who can convey a vision to any audience, from Wall Street to the most junior employee.”  The quote above could describe an ideal CEO. But it’s actually a portrait of a corporate psychopath, provided by a law enforcement official who declined to be identified because they weren’t authorized to publicly comment. “They are typically very charming on the surface, they are bold and not afraid,” says Karen Landay, a Ph.D. candidate in business management at University of Alabama.

Take Me Out to the Abandoned Ballpark
Al.com – Dec. 8
These days, ‘30s-era Bush Stadium is still around, serving as a thriving residential complex. The 92-year-old Capital Stadium faces the wrecking ball. Such are the varied fates of abandoned minor league stadiums. The latest such uncertainty is playing out in Aaron’s native Mobile, at a relatively young ballpark with Hammerin’ Hank’s name attached to it. If they are looking at changing the structure of Minor League Baseball where these small market (stadiums) are used predominately by one team, this could become a bigger and bigger problem,” said Amanda Ross, associate professor economics at the University of Alabama

Operation Deep Dive: Nationwide Study on Veteran Suicide
Spectrum News – Dec. 6
For some veterans, the battle never ends. “This week alone, we had a veteran call Clear Path for Veterans and say he was having a very bad day, and he might not finish the day,” said Bill Smullen, Clear Path for Veterans ceo. They are through Operation Deep Dive, a four-year in-depth study that focuses on the risk factors of veteran suicide.
