BUSINESSES GEAR UP FOR GAME THIS WEEKEND

Fans from all over the country are heading toward Tuscaloosa for an epic SEC battle this weekend between the University of Alabama and LSU. Many Tuscaloosa businesses are spending their week preparing for the crowds by ordering extra food, extra booze and getting all hands on deck for Saturday. Sales associate at Elle Boutique Kaylee Osborne said they organize the store by Alabama colors to make it easier for customers.

UA prepares for LSU game and Presidential Visit

If you are going to the big game Saturday, University of Alabama officials are urging football fans to get here early. The gates at Bryant-Denny stadium will open at 11:30, three hours before kick-off. Nick Frenz from UA Transportation tells us fans should expect traffic delays.

UA Student Veterans to take part in Operation Iron Ruck (Live Interview)

Operation Iron Ruck is a joint-event put on by current student veterans from Auburn university and The University of Alabama to raise awareness of the veteran suicide epidemic.

ALABAMA PROFESSORS GET GRANTS FOR OPIOID ABUSE TREATMENT RESEARCH

Two University of Alabama faculty members will begin research on opioid use disorder treatments. Mercy Mumba, Ph.D. and Rebecca Allen. Ph.D. will receive a combined total of more than $3.8 million. The doctors intend to train psychologists to combat opioid use disorder in underserved populations. Their research teams will study the effect of mindfulness relapse prevention, a process that increases self-awareness of choice, and peer support on continued sobriety and engagement in medication-assisted treatment.
