Inclusive Syllabus Workshop Offered Oct. 23

Are you updating a syllabus for Spring 2020? Have you considered ways to make it more inclusive?

Who

  • For anyone updating a syllabus for Spring Semester 2020, to speak with faculty who collaborated last summer to create inclusive syllabus suggestions.
  • Provided with the support of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; the Teaching Hub (College of Arts and Sciences); Alabama Digital Humanities Center and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.

What

  • Drop-in workshop to help craft a more welcoming, inclusive syllabus for Spring Semester 2020.
  • Bring an existing syllabus or use a computer station available at the workshop.
  • Drinks and snacks provided.

When and Where

  • Wednesday, Oct. 23, from noon to 2 p.m.
  • The Alabama Digital Humanities Center, 109A Gorgas Library

  • Since the syllabus is often the first point of contact with new students, it offers you an important opportunity to set the tone of your course by directly addressing your students as competent, engaged learners.
  • Get suggestions and share ideas to make the syllabus more positive, respectful and inviting, and by doing so, help students feel welcome in your class.
