On Oct 10, The University of Alabama will host its inaugural Thank A Donor Day to celebrate the generosity of UA’s donors. The event allows students the opportunity to say #ThanksandRollTide through various communication platforms.

Notecards will be provided, along with food and giveaways. Students will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Big Al, and are encouraged to post their activity on social media increasing awareness for the event with #ThanksandRollTide.

University students have many reasons to thank donors. From scholarships to program support to new facilities, donors provide opportunities for students to excel on campus and in our community every day.

McCollough Institute for Pre-Medical Scholars

Established through the generosity of Dr. Gaylon and Susan McCollough, the McCollough Institute for Pre-Medical Scholars offers a living-learning community that investigates big picture questions about the art of medicine. The program focuses on academic excellence, leadership, community service and undergraduate research. Without the Institute, UA’s future medical leaders would lack the opportunity and resources to develop the complex skills necessary for success in the medical field. The inaugural class of McCollough Scholars enrolled this fall.

Fitzpatrick Endowed Professorship in Value Investing

Because of C.T. and Kelley Fitzpatrick, students in the Culverhouse College of Business are learning from the brilliant mind of a leader in the field of value investing. John Heins, the Fitzpatrick Endowed Professor in Value Investing, enhances the quality of teaching and research while opening doors for students through internships and career placement.

Digital Media Center

Located in Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Digital Media Center is home to four professional media outlets including University-owned WVUA-23, Alabama Public Radio, the Center for Public Television and Crimson Tide Productions. More than 100 students work in the DMC each year, and student interns at WVUA-23 have a 100% job placement rate after graduation.

Scholarships

Scholarships defray the cost of tuition and make the dream of attending the University a reality for many students. Over 3,500 private scholarships have been established at UA by various donors who are truly invested in the lives of present and future students.

“We are excited to involve students in our stewardship efforts,” said Jennifer Crumpton, director of donor relations. “Our donors have provided numerous opportunities for our students at the University. We expect a strong turnout of students ready to celebrate the spirit of philanthropy and say ‘Thanks and Roll Tide’ to our amazing donors in this inaugural event.”
