Safely Dispose of Unwanted Meds at UAPD

Unwanted medication drop box The University of Alabama Police Department now offers a way for you to responsibly discard old or unwanted medicines 24/7.

Do you have medicine that you don’t want? Are you unsure how to dispose of it safely? You can now bring those prescription and over-the-counter medications to the Police Center at 1110 Jackson Ave.

Simply enter the lobby and UAPD personnel will escort you to a locked drop box where you can discard the medications. The box is periodically emptied by a member of the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force, and the contents safely destroyed.

The drop box is used for both prescription and over-the-counter medicines, prescription patches and ointments, vitamins, samples, and even pet medicines. Illegal narcotics, inhalers, syringes and medical devices cannot be accepted. There is no charge for the service and no forms to be filled out.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department, Northport Police Department and the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office have similar drop boxes, all provided by CVS Pharmacy.
