Gimme Five! Reasons to Volunteer for Hands On Tuscaloosa

Looking for a new service opportunity? The UA Center for Service and Leadership has just the thing.

students shoveling dirt during service projectHands on Tuscaloosa is the Center’s annual fall semester service day where UA students have the opportunity to get connected to the Tuscaloosa community. The event will be Saturday, Oct. 5, from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

“Hands is strategically placed during the semester so that when students are bogged down in academics, they can take a break and give back,’ said Ashley Clark, the Center’s coordinator of outreach. “We hope students enjoy this service day and begin to think of long-term service relationships with community partners and areas of the community they would like to continue serving and giving back.”

Here’s why students say they serve:

  1. To learn more about the Tuscaloosa community.
  2. To meet other like-minded individuals.
  3. To find their passion.
  4. To be part of something bigger.
  5. To create a ripple effect.

The Center for Service and Leadership strives to enhance the student experience through active and diverse engagement opportunities in the community. These meaningful and experiential learning opportunities provide students the ability to enhance their leadership skills while becoming active, global citizens.

You can register for the event through the Center for Service and Leadership website.

Site registration will take place at the Ferguson Student Center Plaza.
