UA and Auburn receive grant to help with safety on Alabama roads

New tonight, safety on Alabama’s highways at the center of a more than $3 million grant. Governor Ivey awarded the funding today to Auburn university, The University of Alabama and the state’s department of public health. We are told the money will be used by the schools to create media campaigns aimed at drivers. The department of health will use its money to keep a database of injuries suffered during wrecks, which is federally required.

SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCED AFTER JOURNALIST’S PASSING

An award-winning journalist’s legacy is living on through students with the help of an educational scholarship formed in her name.  Nancy Parker, a University of Alabama graduate and reporter for Fox 8 WVUE-TV in New Orleans, lost her life Friday after a plane crash while flying with a stunt pilot.  In the few days since Parker’s death, her family is already looking at ways to honor her life. They wasted no time in establishing the Nancy Parker Memorial Scholarship through the Community Foundation of East Alabama.
