TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will hold its summer commencement exercise Saturday, Aug. 3, at Coleman Coliseum on the UA campus.
All colleges and schools will participate in a single ceremony that begins at 9 a.m.
UA has more than 1,600 degree candidates, including undergraduate, doctoral and master’s candidates.

Dr. Ian W. Brown, UA professor of anthropology and curator of Gulf Coast Archaeology at the Alabama Museum of Natural History, will serve as commencement marshal.
Brown has taught at UA since 1991 and was promoted to full professor in 1993. He has served as director of graduate studies for the department and as department chair from 2013-18. Brown was awarded the A&S Outstanding Commitment to Students Award in 2000 and was named A&S Distinguished Teaching Fellow from 2004-07.
