LEAP program exposes rising high-schoolers to community service

For Victoria Whitfield, college is about more than just academics. On Tuesday, Whitfield, the director of Early College at the University of Alabama, and dozens of rising high school freshmen put that idea into practice as they worked at the West Alabama Food Bank, unloading food from trucks onto pallets.

This project was a three-year venture in the making and now folks can personally experience the powerful trip down memory lane through the eyes of many civil rights foot soldiers … The next phases of the project will expand the trail to Stillman College and the University of Alabama.

University of Alabama student named 2019 Miss Alabama

A University of Alabama student has earned the 2019 Miss Alabama title. Tiara Pennington, a Helena native, competed as Miss University of Alabama during the competition held June 8 at Samford University in Birmingham.

A student at The University of Alabama majoring in Public Relations and Marketing, Jordan’s talent is tap dance and her social impact initiative is “Project Limitless.”
