The University of Alabama Professional Staff Assembly recently completed a successful academic year, which culminated with the election of officers and presentation of the organization’s Outstanding Professional Award.
Highlights for 2018-19
Among the accomplishments of the past year, PSA did the following:
- created an ad hoc committee for diversity, equity and inclusion.
- participated in the campuswide Martin Luther King Jr. event.
- began streaming meetings using Twitter, Mevo or Facebook.
- worked on a Habitat for Humanity project.
- held two lunch-and-learn events.
In collaboration with the Faculty Senate and Office, Clerical, Technical Staff Association, PSA received a TIAA grant for $5000 to fund projects at Brewer-Porch Children’s Center and Alabama Reach. Also, all three organizations participated in Bama Blitz, a crowdfunding event held during the spring, and will split the funds raised between Alabama Reach and BPPC.

- Alyson Baxter, treasurer, senior director of system support and administrative services, Finance and Operations Shared Administrative Services
Awards
Recipients of the Outstanding Professional Award were Greg Gaddis, a human resources information system administrator for the Office of Information Technology, and Whitney Sewell, program manager, Community Affairs.
Meetings
