Thanks to the We Are UA Campaign, the University’s new faculty and staff giving initiative, The University of Alabama saw employee giving to the institution grow from 19% to 29%. The campaign, which was an effort to increase the number of UA faculty and staff that give back to the University, generated more than $1.75 million in gifts and commitments.
Managed by the Office of Annual Giving, the campaign gave UA faculty and staff the opportunity to financially support an area of their choice. Over 1,700 faculty and staff came together to financially support more than 315 funds that aid the University’s colleges, schools, departments, scholarships, Athletics and building campaigns, among other areas of campus life.
“Truly, we have the best faculty and staff at the Capstone, and it’s an honor to work alongside them. Their financial contributions through the We Are UA Campaign will enable continued advancement of the University’s mission of teaching, research and service at the highest level,” said President Stuart R. Bell.
The campaign was led by Ron Dulek and Amelia de los Reyes as well as a group of volunteers from across the campus. The success of the fundraising effort was further enhanced by a matching gift challenge from Bryant Bank, which provided a $47,884.12 gift to select funds that span the University.
All faculty and staff who made financial gifts of any size to the University were recognized at a celebration event May 1 in the North Zone of Bryant-Denny Stadium.
