DATA SHOWS BUCKLING UP SAVES LIVES IN AUTO CRASHES – Nearly half of the people killed in auto crashes in Alabama last year were not wearing a seatbelt, according to an analysis of state crash records by UA’s Center for Advanced Public Safety. SATURDAY IN THE PARK – UA’s Moundville Archaeological Park will host Saturday in the Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This weekend’s event will include demonstrations of Choctaw beading and traditional Choctaw drumming and dancing. Each weekend offers a new activity for attending families, including sessions on tools and weapons, flintknapping and pottery firing, among others. Saturday in the Park activities are free with paid park admission. Saturday in the Park is open to the media. GRANT ARCHIVES SOUTHERN LGBTQ HISTORY – UA was awarded a $300,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to archive LGBTQ history in the South. The grant will allow UA and its partner, the Invisible Histories Project, to curate collections of documents and memorabilia, like clothing, diaries, banners, quilts and board games, from the LGBTQ community across the South.
