University of Alabama’s first black student receives honorary degree 63 years later

Lucy Foster became the first African American to attend an all-white school or university in the state of Alabama – and then she was removed just three days later. Now she’s 89 years old and just received and honorary doctoral degree.

UA hosts Robotics Mining Challenge

The University of Alabama engineering department is hosting the Robotic Mining Challenge  in Tuscaloosa. Twenty-eight teams from colleges all across the country are on campus trying to prove they are the best engineers. The Alabama Astrobotics team has won the competition five times.

Addressing the needs of the residents of Marion, Alabama, is the goal for one University of Alabama organization later this month. Students who exemplify service and fellowship are involved in the University Fellows Experience. Throughout the three-week program, which lives under the umbrella of the UA Honors College, the freshmen hope to be a guided light for Marion students to get the ball rolling on community matters.

Former Obama Northern District of Alabama US Attorney signs letter saying Trump committed crimes

Former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama Joyce Vance joined approximately 500 other lawyers in signing a letter saying they believe President Donald Trump committed obstruction of justice and would have been charged had he not been president of the United States … Vance, a law professor at the University of Alabama Culverhouse School of Law, has long been a vocal critic of Trump.
