Clyde native participates in Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference

Nearly 500 students at The University of Alabama highlighted their research and creative projects during the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference on March 27. Among them was Victoria Colon of Clyde, whose presentation was titled “Dose-Dependent and Sex-Specific Effects of Synthetic Estrogens on Reproductive Function” in the Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Water category.

Unviersity of Alabama students combine computer science, literal brain power to fly drones

Several students have worked on studying the way neuroscience and computer science can be combined, creating a game to see how far a person’s brain activity can carry a drone.

ALABAMA STUDENT WINS BIG ON WHEEL OF FORTUNE
WVUA (Tuscaloosa) – April 8
A University of Alabama student is a whole lot richer after competing on her dream game show. Bethany Patterson, who’s a sophomore majoring in marketing, was one of three contestants on a recently aired “Wheel of Fortune” college week episode. Patterson said she grew up watching “Wheel of Fortune” with her family and following along as contestants tried solving the puzzles.

BLACK WARRIOR FILM FESTIVAL: BY STUDENTS, FOR STUDENTS

The seventh annual Black Warrior Film Festival was held in multiple locations across The University of Alabama campus March 29-30, 2019. Black Warrior Film Festival was created in 2013 to showcase student-produced films. Aspiring filmmakers from all over the world are able to showcase their latest work. The directors of the festival wanted to provide more than just exposure for these group of individuals. Not only were films shown throughout the event, there were also panelists answering questions about the ins and outs of the industry.

Graduates listened to guest speaker Dr. Joshua Wakeham, assistant professor at the UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA. Chief Steven Anderson also spoke to the graduating class.
