Office of Information Technology

Are you graduating? Then visit https://oit.ua.edu/alumni/ to learn more about the services that will continue or discontinue after you receive your degree.

Are you returning in the fall? Before you leave, connect to Eduroam, the official wireless network at UA. The wireless network UA-WPA2 will retire this summer. Establish a connection to Eduroam with your @ua.edu email address and myBama password before leaving for the summer.

UA Libraries

Pay your overdue fines. Then, to avoid racking up fines while you are away, return any items you’ve checked out: books, laptops and audiovisual equipment.

Student Health Center and Pharmacy

If you take prescription medication, take care of refill needs before you go.

Remember, if you are still enrolled and need the SHC during the summer, it’s open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. The SHC is closed on weekends during the summer.

Off-Campus Housing

If you are moving out of a rental property, Off-Campus Housing has helpful, detailed information on how to review your lease, understand what to expect regarding damage and deposit returns, and know your rights and responsibilities as a tenant.

On-Campus Housing

Can’t take it with you? Donate to the Give and Go donation bins.

Check your Crimson email for important messages from Housing and Residential Communities regarding moving out of the residence halls.

If you are leaving a residence hall, you must check out with an RA or use express check-out.

As you empty your rooms, remember that the Give & Go program will allow you to donate any unwanted items. There will be donation collection points in the area and on campus for items you no longer want but perhaps others might be able to use.

All proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Look for the large white donation bins at Bryce, Bryant, Burke, Lakeside, Paty, Presidential, Ridgecrest and Riverside locations.

Bins will also be placed at each area desk for any nonperishable and unopened food items.

UA Police Department

If you are missing any belongings, check the lost and found site before you go. Your item might be there waiting for you.

Prepare to leave.

  • Have your vehicle serviced.
  • If flying, be sure to arrive early for check-in.
  • Address the needs of any pets or comfort/service animals.
  • Stop delivery of mail, paper and packages.
  • Address any summer billings.
  • Make sure people who need to contact you while you are away have all necessary information.

Be safe when leaving.

  • Don’t pack your vehicle until the day you leave.
  • Don’t leave doors unlocked or prop doors open on your vehicle or at your room as you move out.
  • Call or text a family member or friend when you leave so they will know when to expect you; share which route you will be taking.
