Graduate School Waiving Application Fees for One Week

Graduate School Waiving Application Fees for One Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Applying to become a graduate student at The University of Alabama will be free during the third week of March.

The UA Graduate School is waiving application fees for master’s and doctoral programs from March 18 through March 22, saving $65 for U.S. applicants and $80 for international applicants. During Free Grad App Week, applicants can complete a short form to receive a code that will waive the application fee.

The inaugural Free Grad App Week is meant to increase awareness of opportunities for graduate studies at the University, said Lesley Campbell, director of graduate recruitment.

Research shows graduate degrees bring increased employment opportunities, potential for higher earnings and lower unemployment. It’s estimated a person with an advanced degree earns $490,000 more than a person with only a bachelor’s degree.

To apply to a graduate program, go to graduate.ua.edu and create a user ID and password. Complete each section of the application. At the end of the application, just above the “Submit” button, there is a small rectangle with instructions that read “Leave this field blank.” The free code should be typed into that rectangle. Please note the code is case sensitive.

An application and all supporting documents must be submitted by midnight March 22, 2019.

Supporting documents include recommenders’ email addresses, a statement of purpose, unofficial test scores (if required) and unofficial transcripts.

The Free Grad App Week code can be obtained by filling out the form at http://bit.ly/2UgDTpY.
