Faculty Accolades for Jan. 28, 2019

Stacy Alley, director of musical theatre and associate professor of musical theatre/dance, recently planned and chaired the Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance’s annual conference at NYU Steinhardt. She is vice president of the organization.

Dr. Nathan Culmer, assistant professor of medical education and director of academic technologies and faculty development for the College of Community Health Sciences, was selected by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Foundation as one of 10 recipients of the 2019 New Faculty Scholar Award.

Jonathan Cumberland, art and art history, had a poster design accepted to the “Third International Poster Biennial Oaxaca.” Posters will be displayed at the Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca in Oaxaca, Mexico, through March 1.

Dr. Lucy Curzon, art and art history, published “Visualising the Home Front: Evelyn Dunbar and Wartime Citizenship” in Oxford Art Journal, Volume 41, Issue 3, 341–360  (December 2018).

Shahar Dillbary, Law School, coauthored “An Empirical Analysis of Sexual Orientation Discrimination,” 86 University of Chicago Law Review 1-75 (2019). Dillbary and Frederick E. Vars, Law School, are two of three coauthors of “Why Exempting Negligent Doctors May Reduce Suicide: An Empirical Analysis,” 93 Indiana Law Journal  457-497 (2018).

William Dooley, art and art history, had two paintings accepted to the Marshall University School of Art & Design’s Eighth Annual National Juried Exhibition, Jan. 7-Feb. 8, at the Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll Gallery in Huntington, West Virginia.   

Monique Fields, Law School, published “Honeysmoke: A Story of Finding Your Color,” Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group (2019). The picture book tells the story of a biracial girl who discovers the color of her skin.

Christopher Jordan, art and art history, will have a solo exhibition, “Twilight Passages,” Feb. 9-March 2, at The Photographic Gallery, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Ronald J. Krotoszynski, Law School, published “Whistleblowing Speech and the First Amendment,” 93 Indiana Law Journal 267-302 (2018).

Megan Moore, art and art history, was invited to participate in a three-person exhibition, “Flourish + Collapse,” Feb. 4–March 3, Palmetto Center for the Arts Northwest Vista College, San Antonio, Texas.

Bryce Speed, art and art history, has a solo exhibition, “Psychic Reader: Narratives of the Sea,” at the Walnut Gallery in Gadsden.

Drs. Bradley White and Susan White were among the editors of “The Oxford Handbook of Child and Adolescent Psychology” published by Oxford University Press (2018).
