Council Seeks Nominations for Annual Excellence Awards

The Council on Community-Based Partnerships is seeking nominations for its Excellence in Community Engagement Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements in the field of engagement scholarship.

Nominations are sought in two categories: Excellence in Community Engagement and Distinguished Community-Engaged Scholar.

Nominations for Excellence in Community Engagement should demonstrate how the investigator considered needs, provided unique activity involving the community and the University in collaborative efforts, and how they built capacity within communities rather than merely providing a one-time service. Award recipients within this category include faculty or staff, student and community partner.

Nominations for the Distinguished Community-Engaged Scholar should demonstrate an individual’s record of distinguished and sustained achievement in public service and engagement in community-based partnership efforts that have made outstanding contributions to the quality of life in Alabama. Award recipients within this category also include faculty or staff, student and community partner.

Additionally, funding awards will be available for seed funds, travel funds and graduate fellowship funds. Students, faculty and community organizations are also invited to submit a proposal to present a poster at the Council’s annual awards luncheon to be held Wednesday, April 17.

The deadline for nominations and poster proposals, seed funds and graduate fellowship funds, is Friday, Feb. 1. The deadline for travel funds is Friday, Feb. 15.
