UA AWARDED GRANT TO TEST DEMENTIA CAREGIVER APPA national healthcare agency has funded a joint project between UA and Florida International University to test the efficacy of “CareHeroes,” a web and mobile application designed for dementia caregivers. The app is designed to improve communication between physicians providing dementia care and caergivers. The app also aims to decrease caregiver burden and depression symptoms, which they often experience because of the stress of caregiving. The $300,000 grant will allow researchers to test the app with more than 60 participants. The findings are detailed in the paper “You’re Fired! Gender Disparities in CEO Dismissal,” which is accepted for publication in the Journal of Management. Female CEOs are about 45 percent more likely than male CEOs to be dismissed from their firms. The UA researchers, Drs.
