Renovations to Aquatic Center to Cause Bryant Drive Lane Closures

Rendering of the outdoor pool

As the holiday break approaches, construction crews on The University of Alabama campus are preparing to complete a major project as part of the $21 million renovation of UA’s Aquatic Center.

Starting Dec. 17, construction crews will be working on a new water main that will connect to a city line. The project will cause lane closures on Bryant Drive, one of the main thoroughfares on campus.

Renovations to the Aquatic Center will provide a state-of-the-art facility for UA’s swimming and diving program. The 50-meter aquatic training and competition pool, including the diving boards and diving platforms, will be completely renovated. The existing indoor 25-meter natatorium will be converted to an outdoor pool facility.

Lane closures on Bryant Drive will occur in two phases. Westbound lanes and the center turn lane will be closed Dec. 17-18. Eastbound lanes and the center turn lane will be closed Dec. 19-20. Click here for more information on the lane closures.
