Katie Buhai of San Diego, a senior elementary education major, was named Homecoming Queen at a rally Friday, Oct. 12, at The University of Alabama. Buhai ‘s sponsor is Kappa Delta.
“As an education major and member of the Student Government Association, I encounter children, students, faculty and staff of all ages and backgrounds,” Buhai said in her campaign statement. “Leading up to our homecoming celebrations, I will work to show our campus how we can come together to protect some of the most vulnerable in our society.”
About 12,000 votes were cast in the election. Buhai will be crowned Saturday, Oct. 13, at halftime of the Alabama-Missouri football game.
