Three universities in the United States have officially made good on Apple’s WWDC 2018 promise of a contactless identification card. This comes at the same time as Apple rolls out the iMessage-based Business Chat feature to a slew of new countries … Students at Duke University, the University of Alabama, and the University of Oklahoma are now officially able to add their university I.D. card onto the Wallet app in iOS 12 or watchOS 5 and use that digital card experience to perform a number of actions around campus.

Early childhood mental health services potentially expanding in Alabama

Mental health is often associated with mental illness, which in turn leads to a misunderstanding of why access to mental health services for Alabama’s youngest children and their families is important, said Dallas Rabig, the state’s coordinator for infant and early childhood mental health … Entering its fifth year, the Tuscaloosa program was formed through a partnership with the Dept. of Mental Health, Dept. of Public Health, Child Development Resources of the University of Alabama and the Alabama Partnership for Children.

UA to receive grant to help fight opioid addiction

Beat Auburn Beat Hunger Kicks Off

Two of the largest universities in Alabama are once again competing against each other. The University of Alabama and Auburn University kicked off their 25th annual food drive yesterday. Representatives from the two schools joined Governor Kay Ivey at the capitol in Montgomery as the drive got underway. These two food drives are six-week competitions, to challenge their communities to act on the belief and basic human rights of adequate nutrition.

Amazon kicks off construction of first Alabama fulfillment center

The center is expected to have a massive economic impact on the Birmingham region. Projections show it will contribute $203 million to Jefferson County’s economic output annually, while adding $123 million to the county’s GDP, according to the study prepared by the Center for Business and Economic Research in the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse School of Business.
