Have you ever dreamed of a career in the world of sports but thought your major wouldn’t apply to the industry?

Think again.

The University of Alabama’s Career Center and UA Athletics will host sports industry professionals who will talk about their unique career paths during Going Pro: Getting into the Sports Game on Nov. 15.

“There is a slight misperception that only a few majors properly prepare our students for a career working in sports,” said Melinda King, assistant vice president of UA’s Division of Student Life. “We wanted to make certain our students know that there are a lot of different ways to get involved in this wonderful industry.”

Several sports professionals will engage in a discussion around their career paths and offer insight on what students can do now to prepare for a sports-related career. Panelists will include representatives from the NCAA, ESPN, PepsiCo, UA Athletics and Football Bowl Association.

Following the discussion, students can talk to panelists and other sports professionals in attendance one-on-one during a catered reception.

“This event will offer our students a firsthand account of what it takes to break into the exciting world of sports,” said King. “Additionally, they will have an opportunity to network with industry leaders, which always has the potential of opening doors for future employment.”

The event will be from 6:30-8 p.m. in the multipurpose room of New Freshman Hall. Seating will be limited to 200 students and are first come, first serve through online registration. Click here for more information and to save your seat.
