MAKING NEWS

PROFESSOR AVAILABLE TO DISCUSS JOURNALISM STANDARDS – In recent weeks, two print journalism standard-bearers, The New York Times and legendary reporter Bob Woodward, printed material critical of President Donald Trump stemming from anonymous sources. What does this mean for the typical standard of publishing on-the-record sources? Will these recent atypical approaches become a growing trend? Dr. Chris Roberts, a UA associate professor of journalism who has been on the board of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and helped revise the Society of Professional Journalists’ code of ethics in 2014, offers his expertise on the subject. For more information, contact Jamon Smith, UA Strategic Communications, jamon.smith@ua.edu or 205-348-4956, or contact Roberts directly at croberts@ua.edu, 205-246-6656
