University of Alabama hosts Get on Board Day

Students are ‘getting on board’ at the Capstone. Get on Board Day welcomed thousands of students at Bama to help them choose between hundreds of groups on campus. Fraternities, sororities, and religious organizations among others all had tables set up with information about each organization. “It’s a little overwhelming, but in a good way. Just seeing so many people, there’s so many options. It’s like a fresh start to get involved in whatever you want to,” said UA student Hannah Clayton. The event was held at the Ferguson Center.
 
UA and UAH establish joint nursing science Ph.D program

The University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing and the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s College of Nursing will collaborate on an online nursing science Ph.D. program. The program will have the support and resources of UA and UAH. Both nursing colleges have been named Centers of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing during the past year. The joint program will increase both institutions’ graduate-level programming and enrollment, while continuing to health care delivery and research productivity for the state and nation.
 
UA marketing professor comments on Nike using Kaepernick in ads

Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49er, took a knee during the National anthem two years ago, protesting what he says is racial injustice around the country. Robert Morgan, who teaches marketing at Alabama, says the ad was more than just a chance to stir the pot. He says controversy works in advertising.
 
Culverhouse School of Accountancy helps with tutoring

The UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA Culverhouse School of Accountancy is helping supply tutors. Free GED exam prep and computer classes will be offered Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30 PM. To 7 P.M.

 
At the University of Alabama, New Laboratories Are Designed For Collaboration

The design of academic research laboratory spaces for the different fields of engineering has in years past focused on both individual departments and researchers/principal investigators doing independent research in their own individual laboratories. Over the past decade, however, this concept has increasingly given way to a new design paradigm. A recent and excellent example can be found in the new laboratories at the University of Alabama’s College of Engineering, which are designed to encourage interaction and collaboration.
