Planning an Outdoor Event? Don’t Forget the Grounds Use Permit.

A grounds use permit is an integral part of planning a successful outdoor event.

The grounds use permit department is solely responsible for coordinating, approving, managing or overseeing a myriad of outdoor events taking place on campus every day throughout the entire year.

This department successfully coordinates each event through multiple departments: office of counsel, UAPD, environmental health and safety, risk management, grounds, parking, transportation, judicial affairs, veteran and military affairs, and auxiliary services.

Coordination often also includes deans, Student Recreation Center, Ferguson Center, athletic venues, and city or county administrators and leaders.

This coordination helps to ensure safety and compliance with campus policies and standards, as well as avoiding conflicts from multiple requests for the same venue and time. The safety of students, guests and employees is paramount to the overall success of each event.

Grounds use staff are devoted to working with every customer, department or student organization to ensure success in the safest and most professional manner.
