PROFESSORS HELP IN DISCOVERY OF SUBATOMIC PARTICLE SOURCE — Three UA professors are part of an international team of scientists who found evidence of the source of tiny cosmic particles, known as neutrinos, a discovery that opens the door to using these particles to observe the universe. The announcement was made recently at a news conference in Washington, D.C. It’s the first evidence of an active galaxy emitting neutrinos, researchers say. TURNING ON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO SCIENCE, ENGINEERING – UA’s College of Engineering is hosting the Student Introduction to Engineering, or SITE, camps, which continue through July 27. The three, weeklong camps introduce rising high school juniors and seniors to the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields and activities. Students will engage in team exercises, tour an industrial plant and participate in a design competition. SITE Camps are open to the media.
