Eddie Conyers is an Alabama legend. He, perhaps, does not possess the name recognition of a Joe Namath or a Julio Jones, but those Bama greats certainly know and love Eddie. You see, this ninety-year-old has been the Alabama practice official since 1962, and in a few weeks, he will begin his 56th year of working practices, every day, heat or cold, rain or shine.

Program held in Tuscaloosa aims to develop young dancers

More than 100 young dancers from around the country are finishing up the American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive this week in Tuscaloosa … The program will conclude Friday with showcase performances by the dancers in the concert hall at the Moody Music Building, 810 Second Ave. Showtimes are at noon and 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at www.ua.tix.com. MBHS grad cuts ribbon on Eagle Scout project
Mountain Brook Village Living – July 17
Crestline resident and Mountain Brook High School graduate Arthur Barnes recently got to cut the ribbon on his Eagle Scout project. Barnes, a rising sophomore at University of Alabama and member of Scout Troop 53, completed two information kiosks at Red Mountain Park for his Eagle Scout honor. While the kiosks were finished in May 2017 before he went to college, the ribbon cutting was delayed until July 13 of this year.

NSA announces 2018 scholarship recipients

The National Society of Accountants and its Scholarship Foundation announced the 25 college students who have received its 2018 scholarships, worth a combined $33,200 …  The 2018 scholarship recipients are listed below, along with their university and sponsoring NSA-affiliated organization or scholarship … Ryan Waelde – The University of Alabama. Alabama dance students to perform in Scotland performance festival

Yonder Contemporary Dance Company, a group that is part of the University of Alabama’s department of dance and theater, is set to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland this year.
