Faculty Accolades for July 23, 2018

Yonathan A. Arbel, Law School, published “Adminization: Gatekeeping Consumer Contracts,” 71 Vanderbilt Law Review 121-178 (2018).

Dr. Martha Crowther, College of Community Health Sciences, was selected as a fellow for the 2018-19 SEC Academic Leadership Development Program.

Dr. Craig Edelbrock, dean of the College of Continuing Studies, published “Emil Milan: Midcentury Master,” which won gold in the category of Mid-Atlantic: Best Regional Non-Fiction from Independent Publisher.

Yuri R. Linetsky, Law School, published “What the Police Don’t Know May Hurt Us: An Argument for Enhanced Legal Training of Police Officers,” 48 New Mexico Law Review 1-93 (2018).

Wade Folger MacDonald, art and art history, received the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts 2018 Emerging Artist Award in July. The award recognizes exceptional early career artists and helps promote their work internationally for the year.

Dr. Rachel Stephens, art and art history, published “Selling Andrew Jackson: Ralph E. W. Earl and the Politics of Portraiture,” University of South Carolina Press (2018).

Drs. Jessica PowellCatherine Skinner, Drake Lavender, Daniel Avery and James Leeper, College of Community Health Sciences, published “Obstetric Care by Family Physicians and Infant Mortality in Rural Alabama,” vol. 31 no. 4 Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine 542-549 (2018).

Dr. Jane Weida, College of Community Health Sciences, was appointed to a two-year term on the Office of Women’s Health Steering Committee. The office is part of the Alabama Department of Public Health.
