Allison Hetzel in “Step Mama Drama!”

Allison Hetzel, associate professor of voice and acting at UA, will perform the one-woman show “Step Mama Drama!” at the  Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland on Aug. 3-4 and 6-10. She will perform the work at the Space on the Mile (Venue 39).

In the show, Hetzel shares many of her own ups, downs and discoveries through her experience as well as other perspectives that she has gathered through interviews.

“This solo show is a collection of monologues that reflect on the sometimes stressful, fun, odd and exhausting role of the stepmother,” Hetzel said. “This journey is sometimes humorous as well as troubling and this solo show works to strike a balance of the extremes found in the role of being a stepmom.”

Hetzel performed her solo show “Considering Georgia O’Keeffe” at the festival in 2009 and 2010. She recently presented a selection from “Step Mama Drama!” in Chicago as part of the Identity Cabaret during summer 2016 at DePaul University. In August 2014, she was invited to perform in “Cross Cultural Archetypes” in London at the Royal School of Speech and Drama.
