UA to hold commencement ceremonies
WVUA (Tuscaloosa) – May 3
Expect to run into some extra traffic this weekend. The University of Alabama, Stillman College, and Shelton State are all holding commencement ceremonies. Shelton’s started earlier today. 87-YEAR-OLD FINISHES DEGREE
ABC 31 (Huntsville) – May 3
A Huntsville woman is finally getting her college degree from the University of Alabama after nearly 70 years of waiting. 87-year-old Pat Cassity will be graduating with her Bachelors of Arts in Music this Friday. Cassity was one quarter away from graduating in 1950 when she left the university to work for the air force in Alaska. She says that she immediately regretted her decision not to finish her education.

Nicholas Gangwer of Jacksonville was recently honored for receiving the Coca-Cola Scholarship and is part of the 12th cohort of Coca-Cola First Generation Scholars at the University of Alabama. He and other recipients were honored at a luncheon in April.
