Action Card Gets a New Look

Action Card Gets a New Look

Whether you are buying a meal, accessing a dorm or attending an athletic event, the Action Card is there, serving as a key to the numerous possibilities across  campus. Now that key is going to look just a little different.

With over 70,000 active cardholders, the Action Card office wanted to give those using the card the opportunity to have their voices heard — to truly make this new card their card. First, the Division of Strategic Communications created six card designs to serve as the new face of the Action Card.

Then, to get as many people as possible involved, UA and the Action Card office took to social media, posting polls on the most popular sites: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat. Students, faculty, staff and the public had the chance look at the designs, vote and comment on their favorites.

Upon the polls’ conclusions, two designs were so close several recounts had to be made. Only eight votes stood between the winner and the second-place design. The winner features a look that many would recognize from the previous card — a beautiful shot of Denny Chimes and the Quad — but featuring another of the University’s icons, Big Al.

With such a close vote, the Action Card Office worked with the printing vendor  to determine which design would best fit the technology used inside this new card, and again Big Al reigned supreme.

While the official date for the new cards hasn’t been announced yet, excitement is gearing up in the Action Card Office as they prepare for a fresh design to start another era in the University’s history.

“I’m very excited for this new card to be coming to campus,” said Action Card Director Jeanine Brooks. “I believe it really captures what it means to be a part of The University of Alabama.”

Students, faculty and staff will also notice some changes with the card’s interior makeup, which will be beneficial for everyone on campus.

Be on the lookout as more information becomes available through University social media sites, as well as Action Card on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
