Everyone knows finals are stressful. A week full of tests can lead to a lot of anxiety. Here are some tips the UA Counseling Center suggests to destress during finals week.

Consider Tuscaloosa’s rent-a-dog program.

1. Rent-a-dog during “Happy Hour.” 

The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter allows people to rent dogs that are up for adoption during their “Happy Hour.”  This can be a great stress reliever, spend some time with man’s best friend. To learn more about the rent-a-dog program, click here.

2. Take a hot shower.

Taking a hot shower actually can help improve blood circulation and relieve pain and stress.  

3. Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling.

It can be good to talk about your stress and anxieties, whether it be with a friend, parent or favorite professor. 4. Conquer negative thoughts.

Don’t let negative thoughts creep into your mind. Being pessimistic, panicking or obsessing over the worst-case scenario only leads to more stress.

The easiest thing you can do to reduce stress is to take a deep breath and clear your mind. This can help you relax and lower your heart rate.
