City, UA team up on new health care program

In a first for the state of Alabama, the city of Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama have teamed up to bring a new medical program to city residents. Dubbed ACTION — Appropriate Care and Treatment in Our Neighborhoods — this new approach to health care is now available to all Tuscaloosa 911 calls that will apply.

UA Adapted Athletics Opens Stran-Hardin Arena

A lot of news is coming out of Alabama, from politics to football, now comes the first in the nation arena. The Stran-Hardin Arena a two-story facility, named for Drs. Brent Hardin and Margaret Stran, founders of the program, includes a NCAA regulation game venue for wheelchair basketball, locker rooms, athletic training room, strength and conditioning room, team meeting rooms and study halls. Stran-Hardin Arena is along the south façade of the UA Rec Center, east of the main entrance.

Danny Glover to speak at UA awards banquet

Actor, producer and humanitarian Danny Glover will be the speaker Friday night at the Realizing the Dream Legacy Awards banquet. The banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Sellers Auditorium at the Bryant Conference Center, 240 Paul W. Bryant Drive on the University of Alabama campus.

UA to hold ‘Professionally Speaking’ Workshop (Live interview)

UA Army ROTC Cadets escort President at National Championship Game

Two University of Alabama Army ROTC cadets escorted President Trump on to the field for the National anthem, and then sat with the president during the National championship game. Cadet Austin Griswold and Cadet Benjamin Klein also presented the president with a t-shirt.

Tax reform: Alabama executives predict job growth

Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service announces retirement

After 44 years in fire service, Alan J. Martin is stepping away. Martin, 65, is retiring as chief of the Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service on Jan. 19 … In 2016, the University of Alabama School of Social Work and the city of Tuscaloosa partnered on an EMS Prevention Program to help residents identify and use the proper community resources while reducing the frequency of non-emergency calls to 911.

UA announces plan for National Championship Parade

The University of Alabama announced today that the school will be hosting a National Championship parade next Saturday, January 20th starting at 2pm. The parade will feature Nick Saban, players and staff and will start at University Boulevard at Denny Chimes.

National Championship Trophy on Display

You can get a first-hand look at The University of Alabama’s latest National championship trophy this week. Today, fans came out to Winn-Dixie in droves to get their picture taken with the trophy it )s a tradition fans say is all part of the crimson tide experience. The Tuscaloosa WalMart on Skyland Boulevard is hosting the trophy tomorrow from 4 to 7 P.M.

Is the Walk of Champions out of room?

Meanwhile, this is a developing story. That traditional Walk of Champions that leads the Alabama football team into the stadium on game day could be out of room. The last National Championship plague that was added to the commemorative walk was placed right up against the Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Gorgas House doll exhibit to close this weekend

While dolls might be a thing of your childhood, they can be art, too. Tomorrow is the last day to see “A Life With Dolls: The Dolls of Susan Hodgson,” an exhibit at the Gorgas House Museum on campus. Hodgson’s collection of dolls spans a range of cultures and is open for viewing from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and tomorrow. The exhibit has been open since Nov. 20.
