At the September meeting of the Professional Staff Assembly, President Robert Baxter presented the Mark G. Foster Scholarship to Jennifer Patrick, a 13-year UA employee who has also served two terms with the PSA, 2006-2007 and 2013-2015.

Patrick is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and wrote in her scholarship application, “Throughout my accounting coursework thus far, I have increased my knowledge of the business and account disciplines, expanded my skill sets and learned about new technologies.”

Patrick’s degree will allow her to better perform job tasks, advance her career at UA and assist the nonprofit organizations for which she volunteers.

Patrick, who works in contract administration, is the sixth UA staff member to benefit from the Mark G. Foster Scholarship.

Foster was a UA graduate, staff member and leader in the PSA. “His dedication to students, professional colleagues and the University was abiding and evident to all who knew him,” reads the description on the PSA’s scholarship page.

Established in April 2011 by the PSA, the $1,000 scholarship is awarded each fall to a UA professional staff member earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

The PSA represents the professional staff employees of UA and functions as an advisory and policy referral organization to the administration and to the professional staff employees of the University. The PSA General Assembly meets the third Thursday of each month from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in 1013 North Lawn Hall.
