The results of a year-long Diversity Mapping Study of The University of Alabama will be presented at two public sessions on Monday, Oct. 2.
Dr. Rona Halualani, managing principal and co-founder of Halualani & Associates, the San Jose-based firm hired to conduct the external review, will present her findings of UA’s structure, reporting channels, programs, efforts and curriculum as they relate to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Halualani will make two public presentations of the findings: at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 2 in 3700 Ferguson Center, also known as the Forum Room. The presentations will be identical, allowing students, faculty and staff to attend at a time convenient to them.
Dr. G. Christine Taylor, vice president and associate provost of diversity, equity and inclusion, will share her thoughts after the presentation.
The Diversity Mapping Study was commissioned in 2016 by UA President Stuart R. Bell and Provost Kevin Whitaker with the support of the Strategic Planning Council’s Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion. The project, which catalogs all the current diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, programs and courses on campus, will help further shape UA’s Strategic Diversity Plan and other diversity efforts in coming years.
