$100 Day Helps Children’s of Birmingham

The University of Alabama’s Dance Marathon will host “$100 Day” on Wednesday, Sept. 20. UADM staff and participants, referred to as Miracle Makers, will be challenged by the organization to raise at least $100 within 24 hours. Fundraising events will occur on the Quad and Ferguson Student Center.

All proceeds benefit the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Children’s of Alabama, in Birmingham.

Festivities begin at 9 a.m. with a postcard-making station on the Quad. Individuals can sign cards “for the kids” and stamp their thumbs onto a wooden flame, which serves as the UADM logo. A snow cone truck will park in the Ferguson Center loop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with all proceeds serving as direct donations.

Additionally, a football inflatable and a charity drawing for a Chick-Fil-A gift card will take place at the Ferguson Center Promenade. UADM requests donations of $1 per ticket or $5 for three tickets.

Also, Chipotle will be hosting a Spirit Night from 5 to 9 p.m., with proceeds benefiting Children’s of Alabama. The day’s fundraising concludes at 9 p.m.

The day is part of the organization’s effort to raise $450,000 by February through a series of activities. In a recent event called “Sticking Up for the Kids,” UADM partnered with Dr. Adam Sterritt, UA’s assistant vice president of Student Life. By allowing himself to be duct taped to a wall, Sterritt helped UADM raise $1,750.

“We strive to be a source of encouragement, positivity and empowerment,” UADM President Jack Ebersold said. “We want to show these kids that they are never fighting alone.”
