Tied With the Tide Pre-Semester Programs Promote Fun

University Programs is offering returning students a series of events that will help them meet people, express themselves and have fun — all help students achieve their academic and personal goals and empower them to succeed. The following do not need advanced ticketing, but some require an Action Card.

Mini-carnival: The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, on the Ridgecrest South courtyard. This event will include free food, giveaways, inflatables, wax hands, Build-a-Buddy, cotton candy and other carnival-related activities. To participate, students must be enrolled at UA and present their Act Cards at the event.

Movie at the Soccer Fields: On Sunday, Aug. 13, “Guardians of the Galaxy” will play on a big screen from 7 to 10 p.m. Free food, snacks, popcorn and drinks will be provided. Students will also have the opportunity to win a variety of giveaways and a $150 general scholarship. To participate, students must be enrolled at UA and present their Act Cards at the event.

Glow-in-the-Dark Skate Night: On Wednesday, Aug. 16, students will be able to skate in the Ferguson Center from 7 to 9 p.m. This event will feature a neon skating rink with free food, glow-in-the-dark accessories, a DJ, games and giveaways.

Spa Night at Tut: The event is from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in the Tutwiler community room. Students will be offered free spa amenities such as facials, manicures, massages and makeup applications. There will also be free food and giveaways.
