Partnership to bring more science teachers to Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa News – May 11
During the next few years, educators hope a partnership with the University of Alabama and local schools will bring more science teachers into the classroom. Starting in the 2017-18 school year, a number of Tuscaloosa city and county schools will be taking part in the Developing Leaders in Science Teacher program, in which UA students will be brought into the classroom to shadow science teachers and later become teachers themselves.

After more than a decade, Colbert Heights High School brings theater back

After more than a decade without a drama program at Colbert Heights High School, there’s a revival going on. The school is resurrecting theater after 11 years, complete with much-needed renovations to facilities. Today and Friday, the school’s newly formed drama club will present its first play, “A Family Reunion to Die For.” … Dalrymple’s appeal for help has also been acknowledged as Opelika High School gave Colbert Heights 15 lighting fixtures, and the University of Alabama’s theater department supplied a lighting board.

A University of Alabama graduate got a huge surprise on her wedding day. The bride is a former Crimson Tide cheerleader as were her Bride’s maids, so they planned a big performance. The bride had no idea that Big Al was going to crash the wedding. He’s the Alabama mascot.

Adam Baker of Norcross was part of a team of six Harding University students who were recognized for their participation in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup. Brittany Groves of Decatur received a University of Alabama Fulbright Award for 2017-18.
