Graduating? Keep Your Crimson Mail and Convert Your Box Account

UPDATE Jan. 24, 2022: Crimson email migrated to Microsoft in 2021. See the latest updates on crimson email accounts on the Office of Information Technology’s website.

Crimson for Life

UA students and graduates keep crimson email accounts for life. Crimson email accounts will not expire, and graduates can always visit mail.crimson.ua.edu to check email. Because Crimson mail is hosted by Google, students and alumni have all the benefits of using Gmail including chat, calendar, address book and docs applications.

Box Account Conversion
Additionally, UA student box accounts are not deleted after graduation. The accounts are converted to personal box.com accounts where students’ files will remain safe and secure. Graduates will receive correspondence directly from Box with more information.

Microsoft Office 365
Upon graduation, UA students’ Microsoft Office 365 subscriptions will come to an end. If students have any files stored in Office One Drive, OIT encourages students to migrate these files to a personal account.

DUO Users
Finally, if graduates are using DUO two-factor authentication, their DUO account will automatically be deactivated from the UA DUO system after graduation.

Transcripts
If graduates need to request a transcript, alumni may do so by contacting the Registrar’s office.

If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to the IT Service Desk at 205-348-5555 or itsd@ua.edu, where OIT is happy to assist graduates in this transition.
