Glory Maples Added to Campus Forest

Glory Maples Added to Campus Forest

This October Glory Maple is one of the most recent additions to UA’s urban forest.

An oak tree on the lawn of the President’s Mansion recently came to the end of its life cycle. Replacing it are two newly planted October Glory Maples, so named for the spectacular orange and red of its fall foliage. The addition of these trees is part of The University of Alabama’s commitment to maintaining an urban forest that is central to the beauty of campus.

The October Glory Maples, which were dedicated on April 27, will grow to a height of 40-50 feet with a spread of 35 feet at maturity, according to the Arbor Day Foundation. They and the many other trees planted on campus in recent years will provide the UA community with beauty and shade for many years to come.
